Lesson Materials
Beginner Students
Below are the books used in the first few months of lessons. Students are expected
to bring their books and materials to every lesson. They include:
- Suzuki Violin School: Book 1
- “I Can Read Music” Volume 1 for Violin – by Joanne Martin
- Small notebook for notes and assignments
Intermediate / Advanced Students
Depending on the playing level and style the student is interested in, for classical – the appropriate Suzuki violin book will be used, as well as any books on scales, etudes, and bow technique. For students involved in other styles, we will provide the materials for the jazz / rock violin instruction. These may include music theory, Jazz/Blues play along CD’s, note and advanced rhythms, violin technique, etudes, scales, etc.
The teacher may recommend supplemental material according to each student’s needs.
