Music Instruction by Mike & Lauren Williams

Lauren Williams teaching Suzuki Violin
Mission: Mike and Lauren Williams focus on providing the Mount Pleasant and Charleston community with high level music instruction in violin & viola performance, teaching a variety of styles from classical to jazz, celtic/fiddle, and others. Age is just a number when it comes to beginning your music education Whether your goals are to perform in an orchestra, a rock band, or simply to learn for your own enjoyment, we can tailor the lessons to fit your needs and goals. The learning experience should be fun – we provide performing opportunities for the students to show off their hard work and see the progress of other students and meeting others with similar interests. Beginners – Suzuki Violin
We have certification in teaching Suzuki violin to children and specialize in teaching beginners. Lauren specializes in teaching beginners and children, while Mike teaches intermediate and advanced students.
The Suzuki method of teaching violin is the world’s most popular method for learning the violin. No matter what age, the Suzuki Method provides a solid foundation on technique and ear training while learning familiar simple songs in the beginning. You may read an article here on how we teach the Suzuki Violin method.
Intermediate / Advanced Students

Mike Williams teaching Advanced Classical and Fiddle
For students that have some scales and pieces under their belt, they can branch out to certain styles. For students pursuing a career in Classical Performance, they may continue through the Suzuki series, and then work on Sonatas, and Concertos. Classical Pieces typically have a Piano accompaniment for recitals. Charleston has an astounding number of venues to perform in.
Jazz, Bluegrass, Celtic/Fiddle – music theory is focused more here – chordal theory, motivic development, rhythm in different styles, improvisation including writing out your own melodies / solos. Mike can help you get on stage, showing you what pickups / amplifiers to use, and help you rehearse with your band to get you gigging.
Thanks for reading and we look forward to helping the strings community grow in the Charleston and Mount Pleasant, SC area.
